My Amara is Coming!

Well, I finally did it! I purchased a Handi Quilter Amara with a 12′ Studio 2 frame from my local dealer, Kathye Gillette, at the Quilters Studio. Kathye was great! She asked me what my goals were to make certain I was getting everything I would need. I opted to forego the ProSticher for the moment and focus on my love of free motion quilting before I invest too heavily in robotics. I did order a ruler base, but not the rear handle bars. “Keep it simple to start,” says Kathye. Wise words that make me trust her even more! I’ve been planning this for so long, it was a relief to finally sign the papers to complete the purchase. I’m looking forward to my individual training session with Kathye. She has the best laugh!

When Handi Quilter called last Friday to say that they had an Amara ready to ship, tears sprang to my eyes and I immediately adjusted my plans to accept shipment weeks earlier than planned. Boxes begin arriving today, five in all! We’ve been busy here at the house clearing space to add another room to my growing collection of in-home quilting spaces. Kathye will send her techs out to set up the machine sometime soon. I’ll post pictures then. This is just a quick update to chronical my journey (more for myself than anyone else). It’s hard to contain my excitement.

Even as I plan for the delivery and initial set-up, my mind is racing to the myriad of projects I have waiting the the wings. If you were me, where would you start? What would your first project be?
